At Walthamstow School for Girls, we want our students to be as
prepared as possible for post-school life. It is vital that we provide them with engaging and interesting ways to learn about finances and enterprise both at Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Walthamstow School for Girls Bank – a small school run bank, managed by Year 9 students to encourage all our students to become responsible savers
- Mybnk are an excellent financial education charity who run fun, interesting and relevant workshops for our students as follows:
Year 7 – Money Twist - ‘My Money and My Choices’ workshops (all of Year 7) - Thursday 16th November 2017 P1-3
Year 8 – Money Twist - ‘My future’ workshop (all of Year 8) - Thursday 16th November 2017 P4-5
Year 8 – ‘Enterprise-In-A-Box’ (enterprise activity for 60 Year 8 students) - Tuesday 6th & 13th March 2018 P2-3 & P4-5
Year 10 – Money Twist - ‘My Money, My Choices, My Future’ Key Stage 4 version (all of Year 10) - Friday 16th March 2018 P1-3

Students start to understand how to be responsible with their money and how to prioritise budgets by balancing “needs” and “wants”. Students also learn how to run a small business, how interest works and about ethical banking.
