Walthamstow School for Girls

Parents/Carers

Working in partnership with parents and carers is vital to our students. We know this can be daunting, especially when considering Post-16 options.

Here are some tips for parents/carers on how to support with careers education at home:

  • Read through the sections on the website to ensure that you are informed about what is going on in school and what information is available to you

  • Create your own Unifrog account and use it to browse courses, subjects, careers. You can even take your own personality, interests and work-related quizzes! (see below)

  • Browse the useful websites section of the website.

  • Have conversations at home. Ask your child about their interests, their futures and what options they are considering. Explore with them, be curious and show that you are interested.

  • Talk to us – contact us via info@wsfg.waltham.sch.uk if you have any questions or concerns

Unifrog

WSFG have bought into an incredibly valuable tool called 'Unifrog'  This is a one stop careers advice station.  It is your daughter’s tool to access information on colleges, universities, careers and qualifications.  Students can keep their profile up to date and get advice on their next steps. They can add activities to their ‘locker’ to build a portfolio which can support with CV writing, college and job applications.  Students’ logins will stay in place even once they have left WSFG provided we are still with 'Unifrog'.  Ask your daughter to show you this tool at home and encourage them to update it regularly.
