Year 9 Visit to Eon Next: A Day of Tech Innovation and Inspiration

Year 9 students had an exciting opportunity to visit the Eon Next offices in Central London, where they spent the day learning from professionals across the tech industry. The entire Eon Next team generously dedicated their time to host our students, stepping away from their usual work to deliver a series of insightful talks and activities.
Students heard directly from the Head of Digital, as well as experts from the Product, Design, Development, and Quality teams, gaining valuable insights into the wide range of roles within a tech company.
In the afternoon, students were split into teams and challenged to design a solution for a real-world problem: how to improve the user experience of registering for an online platform. Each group then presented their ideas to the entire Eon Next team.
The day was a fantastic success, offering students a meaningful glimpse into careers in the tech sector and inspiring many to consider future opportunities in computing and digital innovation.
Here’s what some of our students shared about their experience:
I really liked the trip to the EON network company, I think that there were many skills I learnt, not only in coding but in other roles such as designing, managing, quality control and using these skills as part of a team. I enjoyed our practical the most, when we had to design our own solution to an app. It was a good way for us to understand the roles we took on, and has given us an idea of how people use their own strengths to add to a project. The picnic in the park was very lovely as well and I liked how everyone at EON network was so upbeat and nice. They were really easy to understand and I would definitely recommend future trips like this as they really do help students develop their ideas of future careers. 😁!!
Zunairah Y9The presentation was very informative and gave a great insight into what the technology industry is like, and also what different jobs are available. It also was informative in the sense that I now know I could get a job in technology even if I don't pursue a degree in the field.
Grace Y9I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. I enjoyed learning about how the designers and software developers all work together. My favourite role was quality control and when I was doing that in the final activity of the app, I found it really interesting how many problems I found with the profile settings options that we created. I am very grateful that I went on the trip.
