Scholastic Book Fair

The hugely popular Scholastic Book Fair returned to Walthamstow School for Girls last week, running between Friday 17th - Wednesday 22nd October at break and lunch, as well as during our Year 7 This Is Our School event for parents/carers and students. Many students from Years 7-11 attended the fair, with the majority making at least one purchase - our Crime and Romance reads proved particularly in demand!
We are yet to calculate the overall sales total, but it looks like we should be just about on course to meet this year's goal of £1,000 - the final figure will be shared in the next student bulletin. All profits go to Scholastic, who then give us a proportionate amount back in 'Rewards' to spend on new library books for the LRC. Ms Buchanan and the new LRC Rep team can't wait to choose some fantastic new fiction and non-fiction titles to purchase for the LRC next term!
A very big thank you to the students and teachers who volunteered to help at the Book Fair, either on the ticket or payments desk. You helped to make the event a really special one. Watch this space for the next Book Fair dates - there may be one announced to coincide with World Book Day in the Spring term!
I really enjoyed helping at the Book Fair because I loved greeting students and seeing so many of them browsing the amazing books that the Book Fair offers! I can't wait for the next one.
