Year 11 Information 2025-26

I would like to extend a warm invitation to your KS4 cohort to attend our Sixth Form Open Evening, which will take place on 15th January 2026. 

I would be grateful if you could share and promote this event with students in Year 11, as it will provide an excellent opportunity for both students and parents to engage with our Year 12 and Year 13 students and gain a deeper insight into Sixth Form life at Walthamstow Academy.

The evening will offer valuable opportunities to ask questions, explore pathways, and better understand the academic and wider enrichment experiences available to our Sixth Form community.

I would also like to inform you that Applicaa is now open for student applications to our Sixth Form. I would be very grateful if you could circulate this information among your Year 11 students, as we would welcome their applications.

Ada, the National College for Digital Skills, is hosting a Taster Day for students interested in launching a career in tech.

Join us at our London Victoria Campus to experience hands-on learning and meet fellow "Future Coders".

• Date: Saturday, 24th January
• Taster Lessons: 9:30am – 12:00pm
• Optional Lunch & Hackathon: 12:00pm – 4:00pm

🧭 Explore Your Pathway

You can choose two pathways for your taster lessons:

• The Creator: Creative digital skills like Graphics and A-level Computing or an IT AAQ
• The Innovator: Combining Computing or IT with Psychology or Business.
• The Pioneer: A focus on Computer Science and Mathematics.
• The Developer: Software development, including T Level options with a 45-day work placement.

We have four Open Evenings planned for 2026, and the original dates were shared with you in September. However, we have since decided to move the events back by a couple of weeks. Our revised dates are as follows:

• Wednesday 25th February
• Thursday 26th March
• Thursday 23rd April

In addition, we have recently updated our application process. Young people can now complete an online application without the need for a face-to-face interview. Applicants are able to submit their application before receiving their mock exam results and can update us once their results become available. Online applications for September 2026 entry are now live via the link on the BSF website.

The deadline for application is Friday 20th February 2026, but we encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible, so that the admissions team can start checking applications and making conditional offers as soon as possible.

Cinema KLERB:

A passionate community for Film & TV lovers.

Every month there will be a new film or TV series to watch based on a different theme for that month, some catered to special holidays happening e.g October will be Halloween themed, December will be festive!

Come along to the cinema screen at LSA and enjoy the games, snacks and discussions with other film lovers. This is for ages 13 - 16 (Years 9,10 and 11). KLERB is on Thursday 4th December from (4:00 - 6:15pm)
