Daisy Pulls It Off!

Our latest school production!

In February, a company of students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 performed Daisy Pulls It Off, a comedy by Denise Deegan set in a girls’ boarding school in the 1920s.

This was the culmination of months of rehearsals and huge commitment from all involved, particularly from Mina Lewis, who played Daisy, and Noa Hardie, who played her best friend Trixie. These Year 8 students showed exceptional dedication in taking on these huge roles, never missing a rehearsal and bringing positivity and good humour to proceedings.

A number of Year 8s played other key characters, impressing me with their skill and enthusiasm.

The Year 9s and 10s brought their experience to a range of roles, including members of staff, the head girl and her deputy, and other pupils of Grangewood School. We had some fantastic students in the ensemble, who really lifted the show; I can’t wait to see them in bigger roles in the future.

It was heartening to have so many students willing and able to be part of the production team, undertaking roles such as sound operation, wardrobe supervision and prop making. I was ably assisted by Ms Bradshaw on the piano and Ms Childs on the lighting desk, as well as other members of the Performing Arts Faculty and the Senior Leadership Team supporting with front of house and backstage supervision.

A production is a huge collaborative effort, and this was no exception. I am very proud of all of the students who contributed to this spiffing show!
