Year 11 Information
LBWF information for school leavers
Waltham Forest community support are currently preparing their Summer plan for 2025 and wanted to reach out early regarding opportunities for your Year 11 students.
As schools break for the summer holidays, we recognise that the care and engagement of children and young people transitions to families, communities, and partner services. For Year 11 students, this transition begins even earlier as they complete their exams and leave school before the official end of term.
To support this group during the post-exam period and over the summer, we’ve outlined below a number of relevant opportunities and support services:
Post-16 Apprenticeship Support
Waltham Forest offers various internal Post-16 apprenticeship options and works closely with Amazing Apprenticeships.
Mental Health Support
Exams and the wait for results can significantly impact mental wellbeing. Please encourage students to access, Kooth, a free and confidential online mental health support platform or seek further support on the Waltham Forest Webpage :
Support Around Vaping – CGL
With recent legislative changes around vaping, we’ve received reports of young people stockpiling vapes, as well as concerns about the sale of low-cost vapes for as little as £1. This may exacerbate existing dependencies. Please consider referrals to CGL (Change Grow Live) for any young people in need of support.
Online Safety (Parents Guide)
As part of the Violence Reduction Unit’s commitment to safeguarding and empowering families, please find attached an Online Harms Guide created by the Young People’s Action Group (YPAG). This resource was shared at the Best Practice event in March and is intended to support parents in understanding and addressing online harms. (attached)
